Extended schools conference, Thurs 19 May 2005

Extended schools conference, Thursday 19 May 2005, 8.45am - 4.30pm, Barnsbury Centre, Offord Road, Islington N1

An ‘extended’ school is one with a wide range of services for children and families, and is usually open beyond the normal school day. Extended schools may offer study support, childcare and activities for young people, support for parents and families, swift access to more specialist services when needed, and community access to school facilities. Our aim is that all Islington schools become extended schools.

The conference will provide the opportunity for all those working with children and young people to shape the development of Extended Schools in Islington.

We will:

explore how schools can work in partnership with other agencies, parents and the local community to support positive outcomes for children learn from examples of good practice that already exist within the borough, and elsewhere look at how Every Child Matters will impact upon the new OFSTED inspection framework explore the implications for leaders and managers in schools and other agencies
