£30,000 playground for Yerbury pupils
Yerbury Primary School has opened a brand new garden and play area for its
reception class pupils, in line with Government guidance on the need for
schools to have separate outdoor space for Foundation aged (nursery and
reception) students, where possible.
Islington Schools Environmental Project (ISEP), part of CEA@Islington,
designed the playground with input from children, parents, staff and
governors. The school and the parents’ association paid £30,00 for the
playground to be developed. The area will be used for curriculum work as well
as play. The children will also be using the planting areas in the playground
to grow their own food as part of the school’s big commitment to healthy
eating.
Mary Gibson, Headteacher of Yerbury Primary School said: ‘The new outside area
looks fantastic and I know that it will be used well by the children for both
play and curriculum work. It is particularly special because all the children
had an input in its design.’
