Commander Cartridge: saving the planet and raising money for schools
Winton Primary School pupils
were delighted to receive a visit from Commander Cartridge. The recycling
superhero dropped in to the school to thank pupils for taking part in a scheme
to recycle old printer cartridges.
As well as being ecologically friendly, the school receives 25p for every
cartridge returned. Anyone returning a cartridge can enter a monthly prize
draw to win an iPod shuffle or a Footlocker voucher worth £100.
The scheme was launched by
Highbury Grove’s Business Enterprise Centre, and is providing great
entrepreneurial experience for students. Money raised by Highbury Grove
through the recycling scheme goes to fund computer and technology courses for
the local community.
Islington Chamber of Commerce are distributing recycling bags to their
members, and a number of local shops and businesses are actively supporting
the scheme, with recycling bags available to the public at these places
