New housing opportunities at Arsenal for Islington's teachers
Islington teachers will benefit from new housing opportunities as part of the
Newlon Arsenal Triangle Housing Development. This development will provide a
range of rented and shared ownership accommodation, over which Islington
teachers will have first priority.
CEA@Islington has organised a ‘Housing Cheese and Wine Open Evening’ for
Islington’s teachers to provide information about how they can benefit from
the new housing project. All teachers are invited to attend the cheese and
wine evening on Thursday 19 January 2006, 5.00 – 6.30pm at the Barnsbury
Centre, Offord Road, Islington N1 1QF. Teachers wishing to attend are asked to
RSVP to Krasi Toneva on 020 7527 5787 or email
krasi.toneva.cea@islington.gov.uk
The purpose of the evening is to share with Islington teachers information
from the Newlon Housing Trust regarding housing opportunities in the Triangle
Arsenal project. In addition there are other housing schemes in close
proximity to the Arsenal project that are available for intermediate rented
and shared ownership. Islington teachers have priority on all these schemes
with 40 housing units allocated in total.
There will be a short presentation from Joanna Eyarhono, Senior Sales Manager,
Newlon Housing Trust. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about
the various housing schemes available.
Councillor James Kempton, Islington’s Executive Member for Children said:
‘Continuing the massive improvements we have made in education means we must
attract and retain the very best teachers.
‘This is why we have made sure that Islington teachers will get first refusal
on these 40 new homes built as part of the Arsenal development. Islington
schools are a great place to work but for many teachers finding affordable
accommodation in the area is very difficult.’
