Canonbury School footballers to play at The Valley
Canonbury Primary School’s under-11 football team will be playing at Charlton
Athletic’s football ground, The Valley, in the final of a national 7 a side
tournament that has been organised by the big Premiership football clubs.
Canonbury’s football stars will compete at The Valley on the same day that
Arsenal are battling it out against Barcelona in the Champion’s League final
(Wednesday 17 May 2006).
Canonbury’s team, made up of Year 6 pupils, came second in the London area
competition in early May, which was enough for them to qualify for the finals
at Charlton Athletic FC.
Canonbury Headteacher, Jay Henderson, says: “We are all so proud of our
footballers’ achievements. To play at a Premiership club is a once in a
lifetime opportunity for the children and is thoroughly well-deserved.”
