Whittington Hospital class gets fruity on a Friday

Pupils at the Whittington Hospital Class held their first ever ‘Fruity Friday’ lesson today (Friday 26 May). The pupils had great fun sampling a range of fruit, including strawberries, mangoes and kiwi fruit. The pupils each made and ate fruit kebabs and fruit smoothies, all the time learning about the health benefits of eating fruit as part of their diet.

The event was sponsored by Jaynes Florist in Kentish Town, who paid for all the fruit. Fruity Friday is to become a regular feature of Whittington Class curriculum.

Rosemarie Hilditch, Headteacher of the Whittington Hospital Class said: “Fruity Friday has been a total success. The children on the ward and in the classroom have loved every minute. I hope the children will encourage their families and friends to eat more fruit by making kebabs and smoothies.

“I would like to thank Jaynes Florist for their support for this successful community event.”
