Sheila Channell celebrates 40 years at Rotherfield School
Rotherfield School held a special assembly last week in honour of their
longest serving staff member, Sheila Channell. Sheila has worked at the school
on Rotherfield Street for 40 years doing a variety of jobs including cleaner,
meals supervisor and teaching assistant.
The school presented Sheila with a gold bracelet engraved with the dates of
her employment at Rotherfield: 1966 – 2006. Governors, fellow staff members,
children and CEA staff attended the assembly and gave special speeches to
Sheila to thank her for outstanding contribution to the school.
Pupils wrote and performed a special song for Sheila which contained the
following words:
“We want to thank you for all that you’ve done,
For the time you’ve been with us
Has all been good fun.
You started here so long ago
And all the time you’ve loved us and you’ve helped us grow.”
Headteacher Elaine Adams said: “The words of “Sheila’s song” sum up the
affection and appreciation felt for Sheila. She has given a great deal to the
school over 40 years and her dedication to the children is known and
appreciated by generations of our families. We hope that she will continue
working at Rotherfield for many years to come!”
