Ofsted says: St Peter & St Paul's School is fantastic
St Peter and St Paul RC Primary School has received a glowing Ofsted report
following its recent inspection in January. According to the report, St Peter
and St Paul’s ‘is an outstanding school where pupils thrive in an atmosphere
of high expectation and challenge’. Headteacher Daniel Keane receives praise
for his ’tireless leadership’ which is ’the bedrock of the school’s success’.
The opening line of the report reads: ‘“I think this is a fantastic school”,
commented the headteacher, and inspection evidence confirms that this is the
case.’
Pupils were praised by inspectors for their ‘exemplary’ behaviour and it was
noted how much all pupils enjoyed attending school. In a letter to pupils, one
of the inspectors said: “You all said how much you like your school and that
the adults there care for you very much and want you to do as well as you can.
I agree with you and think your school is outstanding.”
Schools are inspected in seven main areas and awarded a grade (1-4) for each
area (where 1 is outstanding and 4 is inadequate). St Peter and St Paul’s was
given outstanding grade 1s in every area, including achievement and standards;
personal development and well-being; teaching and learning and leadership and
management.
Ofsted notes the following points, which contribute to the excellent report:
-
The school makes excellent provision, particularly in the spiritual, moral,
social and cultural development of its pupils;
St Peter and St Paul’s Headteacher, Daniel Keane, said: ‘’The Ofsted
inspection commentary, the report and the outstanding grade 1s in all areas is
a true and honest account of an excellent and truly amazing school. It is a
successful school where every child matters in practice and where all the
staff, pupils, parents and governors have contributed to its continued
success. Congratulations to an outstanding team."
Councillor Ursula Woolley, Islington’s Executive Member for Children and Young
People said: "When Ofsted says a school is 'outstanding' that is high praise
indeed - so well done St Peter and St Paul's. With two great Ofsted reports
for Islington schools already this year, I am confident that our schools, both
primary and secondary, are the right choice for local families."
As well as celebrating their Ofsted success, pupils from St Peter and St Paul
were also treated to a visit by ex-East Enders star, Louisa Lytton (an ex-St
Peter and St Paul pupil) and her Strictly Come Dancing partner, Vincent Simone
on Monday 12th February. The children were taught the Viennese Waltz by the
dancing stars as part of a day of excellence and enjoyment and a celebration
of dance.
