William Tyndale's mad hatters parade their funky headgear
Over 430 pupils from William Tyndale Primary School took part in the school’s
Hat Parade this week to celebrate the whole school hat making art project that
ended this week. Every child from Nursery to Year 6 designed and made their
own individual hats and proudly paraded them before applauding teachers and
parents.
The children’s hats were based on the many subjects that the children have
been learning about this term, including animals, nursery rhymes, Florence
Nightingale and Mary Seagall, the Roman Empire and even a visit to a Hindu
temple. The children had to plan and design their hats before making them as
well as evaluate the successes and failings of their particular designs
afterwards as part of their design and technology work.
“The children’s enthusiasm is infectious and I think we’ve witnessed a
splendid show,” said Sophie, Year 2 teacher and art co-ordinator.
“Its wonderful when the whole school can get together and celebrate each
other’s hard work, I’m really proud of them all,” said Tanya Watson,
Headteacher, William Tyndale School.
