Recycle Now Week – Kids on the cutting edge of reused fashion!

To celebrate the National Recycle Now Week campaign over 200 children from St Joan of Arc School, Hugh Myddelton School and St Mary Magdalenes School took part in a Reuse Fashion Show last week.

The event was the culmination of a week of reuse fashion workshops at five schools in which Islington Council and LMB Textile Recycling teamed up with the Islington's Shoe Friends Schools to raise awareness of the reduce, reuse, recycle message.

Shoe Friends Schools collect clothing and shoes in LMB Textile recycling banks which are reused and recycled. To celebrate Recycle Now Week children used this year's theme 'Transformation' as inspiration to deconstruct and reconstruct items of clothing for the catwalk!

Schools then gathered at St Joan of Arc School to show off their unique designer items in a recycled fashion show attended by the Mayor of Islington and Consort.
