Casual admissions
The School Admission Section will be able to provide any further information if you are unsure of any of the following procedures.
If you have recently moved to Islington, and your child is of primary school age, you can contact schools directly to find if there is a vacancy within your child's year group. The School Admissions Section also hold details on which schools are likely to have vacancies so we can point you in the right direction. We do not advise that you just join a waiting list and just wait for a place to become available. You should always accept an offer at an alternative school in the event that your child does not get offered a place at your preferred school.
If you have recently moved to Islington, and you have a child of secondary school age, you can register with the School Admissions Section for a school place. When you come to our offices you will be asked to provide
proof of address
in the form of a Council Tax Bill, Rent/Mortgage Statement or Child Benefit Letter (no bank statements or utility bills). You will also need to provide evidence that your child is newly arrived in the area. Children from another part of the UK should provide a letter from the child’s last school detailing when the school was informed of the move and the last date of attendance. Children who have arrived from abroad should provide the child’s passport and travel or immigration documents, which should confirm when they arrived in the UK.
