Academy schools
There are two academies planned in Islington.
St Mary Magdalene Academy
(sponsor: Church of England)
This academy is being built on the site of the existing St Mary Magdalene CE
primary school and will offer education for both primary and secondary school
students. Work is currently underway, and a new headteacher has been
appointed. The academy plans to open its doors in September 2007, and
applications can be made for a place from September 2006. Contact CEA's

City Of London Academy
(sponsors: City University and Corporation of
London)
This academy is being planned on the site of the existing Islington Green
school, and plans include the co-location of secondary students from Richard
Cloudesley special school. Consultation is currently underway about the
academy, and it is hoped that it will be ready for students in September 2008.
