Islington Schools Environment Project
The Islington Schools Environmental Project (ISEP)
provides a range of
services to create and maintain the outdoor learning environments of schools
and other education and recreational establishments.
ISEP, established over thirty years ago, is unique in the offer it provides
for schools, as enjoys a positive reputation for quality of service which
extends far beyond the boundaries of Islington.
All services are delivered by a team with a proven track record of developing
creative and positive partnerships with both pupils and staff to develop
exciting playground designs and structures. The team can offer specialisms in
designing , building and sourcing exciting, creative and stimulating play and
learning structures in a full range of education settings.
All work is undertaken complies with appropriate health and safety
requirements for external areas and the provision of play equipment.
Design
Experienced in the needs of schools, ISEP team members – including staff with
qualified teacher status – consult with headteachers, staff and pupils to
provide the best solutions for their sites. They are comfortable working with
pupils both in classroom situations, and in assemblies.
Projects and Construction
The most stimulating educational environments are created with the assistance
of a range of specialist companies. ISEP co-ordinates this work to ensure that
projects run “trouble free”.
From its base at Robert Blair School, ISEP constructs play equipment
specifically for schools, tailored to their requirement. Wooden structures are
made from joinery quality pine from renewable sources, pressure treated to
ensure a ten year life. All plastics used in construction have been recycled,
and a qualified external inspector ensures that our work conforms to conform
to BS EN-1176 safety standards. Risk assessments for new equipment are
included in our service.
Installation
As a service dedicated to schools, we work on school premises on a daily basis
and are therefore aware of the security and safety issues when working with
and near children.
Playground Safety Inspections
British Standard EN 1176-77 recommends that equipment safety inspections be
carried each year. Schools can purchase a service that combines these
inspections with ongoing remedial maintenance.
