Race equality
Race Equality
Race equality is at the heart of the work of the Ethnic Minority Achievement
Service and the Every Child Matters agenda. We aim to ensure that schools are
equipped to meet the duty of the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000 and that
their policies and practices have a positive impact on raising the attainment
of young people from all ethnicities. We also aim to ensure that all schools
are aware of the needs of refugee and asylum seeking pupils and their
families, some of whom are the most vulnerable in the borough.
Our work is focused on training, support, advice and guidance, and we work
with a range of educators, including parents and community groups. You may
find our
guidance on producing a race equality policy a good place to start.
