Recognition and accreditation of learning
All course organisers are able to offer a certificate of attendance to
participants who attend professional development activities.
Many of the courses listed in the programme can lead to a formal
qualification. Information about the type and level of the qualification is
given in the course description.
It is now also possible for all staff to use their professional development
activities to gain credit points with London Metropolitan University, by
carrying out a Practitioners Research module. The credits can
be used towards an additional professional or academic qualification at
undergraduate, postgraduate or master's level.
Participants need to have completed at least 5 days or equivalent - totalling
30 hours of professional development - in any area. This can be a mix of full
day or twilight sessions, undertaken at your school, the Barnsbury Centre, a
university or any other provider.
They then undertake 3 twilight sessions with London Metropolitan staff who
will guide through the process of creating a small-scale research project
focused on an aspect of your practice that is of real interest to you.
Participants then write up their project – with support from university staff.
The cost - CEA@Islington has negotiated special rates
Registering for the module costs £100 for study at undergraduate level, and
£185 for post-graduate level.
If you are interested in doing a Practitioners Research module, contact the
CPD Office for details of dates of the next set of twilight sessions and how
to make your application.
