We believe that successful ethnic minority achievement work...

  • Translates high expectations into raising the achievement and attainment of minority ethnic pupils

  • Is only possible within an ethos of valuing and respecting diversity and the promotion of positive race equality

  • Needs a shared understanding of best practice in teaching and learning to meet diverse learning styles and needs of pupils, underpinned by rigorous data analysis

  • Is built on collaborative working practices for pupils, their families and staff to support learning at home, at school and in the community.

The main features of our support to schools are:

  • in-school packages which include: support for teaching and learning including planning, curriculum development work, target setting, middle and senior management support, training for teachers, other staff and governors; support in developing community and parental links.

  • central training, including governor training.

  • guidance documents and resource development.

  • pre and post Ofsted support.

  • network meetings and newsletters.

  • spreading good practice through the leading departments and leading teachers initiative.

  • telephone support.

  • All schools are provided with a minimum entitlement which includes access to central training, networks and guidance documents. In addition, a differentiated programme of support is available to schools according to need.
