Educational psychology service
Promoting child development and learning through the application of
psychology by working with individuals and groups of children, teachers and
other adults in schools, families, other LEA officers, health and social
services and other agencies
Educational Psychologists (EPs) are concerned with children's development and
learning. They work with teachers, parents and other carers, as well as other
professionals, in trying to bring about positive change for children who are
experiencing difficulties. Educational Psychologists are trained to be aware
of issues relating to race, culture, language and gender.
EPs work with children and young people between the ages of 0-19 who are
residents of Islington, in a range of settings:
-
Early Years Centres and nurseries;
-
special schools and units;
-
mainstream, primary and secondary schools; and
-
sixth forms and colleges.
EP time is carefully allocated between the various settings, according to
identified levels of need.
The Educational Psychology Service aims to support the identification of
special educational needs through consultation, and to offer psychological
advice and support, in line with legislation and the policies of CEA@Islington.
