Inclusion Project
Promoting inclusion for all pupils within mainstream schools including
pupils with SEN
The aims of the Inclusion Project are to:
-
Take forward CEA@Islington's Inclusion Framework for Action and other
strategic plans to promote access and inclusion
-
To support school improvement through self-review and evaluation of inclusive
practice
-
Promote more inclusive schooling through training, specific access projects,
transition and the dissemination of good practice
What we do
We support the implementation of CEA@Islington's Accessibility Plan and
Inclusion Framework for Action.
We facilitate school self-evaluation and review through use of the Index for
Inclusion materials. We do this by
-
providing a framework for consulting the whole school community
-
analysing the data produced
-
working in partnership with schools to identify priorities for school
improvement
We support individual inclusion and access projects in schools.
We support transition to mainstream schools and between phases for pupils with
complex needs.
We disseminate good inclusive practice through training and the sharing of
resources and expertise between schools.
The Inclusion Project links with other service areas/outside agencies to share
information and influence future practice.
We co-ordinate the production of, contribute to and publish the Inclusion
newsletter of the Pupil Services division.
We are responsible for co-ordinating and developing the teaching assistant
Continuous Professional Development programme as part of the workforce
remodelling agenda.
