Literacy difficulties team

Our aim is to support the development of inclusive practice for all pupils with persistent literacy difficulties.

We:

  • Offer school-based and centrally delivered training
  • Work with schools on the effective inclusion of pupils with literacy difficulties at Wave 1
  • Assess pupils experiencing significant difficulties with the written word
  • Produce resource packs for Teachers, Teaching Assistants and parents
  • Offer advice on recommended Wave 3 interventions
  • Link and work with other professionals

Menu of Support

We:

  • Offer a variety of INSET on literacy difficulties
  • Offer advice on appropriate teaching and learning strategies and Quality 1 st teaching in the classroom
  • Provide a wide range of training for teachers and TAs, including accredited training for the Institute of Education, which leads to a certificated qualification
  • Provide packs of support materials
  • Offer advice and training on resources, including recommended Wave 3 interventions
  • Assess pupils and provide targets for IEPs
  • Support schools to become "dyslexia friendly"
  • Contribute to Statutory Assessments and Annual Reviews
  • Review and monitor progress of dyslexic pupils
