Islington Pupil Parliament

What is Pupil Parliament?

The Islington Pupil Parliament supports children and young people’s participation in their schools and communities and promotes pupil voice. It encourages active citizenship, which means that young people are engaged in controlling how their communities and even their countries are run.

The Pupil Parliament gives young people in Islington a chance to take part, take power and get involved with decision-making about how their local services are designed and delivered.

How does Pupil Parliament work?

Pupil Parliament meets once a term throughout the year, and also has a special event every October for Local Democracy Week. The Parliament is made up of representatives from all of Islington's primary, secondary and special schools and pupil referral units. We discuss issues that we have chosen, and take action on the areas that really matter to us. Subjects discussed in past Pupil Parliaments include bullying, healthy school food, safety and school toilets.
